Students in this course will participate in the Hunger Games by completing hands-on tasks and learning skills to earn points for an interactive game. Students will select districts, get sponsors, learn local edible plants, build shelters, and learn other survival skills. Students will take field trips off campus to utilize local hiking trails as well as learn about local animal and plant life. In Suzanne Collins’s fictional trilogy, the Hunger Games were put into place after a revolt against the government, so students will study different forms of government and discuss what makes a government sustainable. They will also enjoy quiet time to read about their district and the tributes that came before them.
