In this integrated health and wellness course, students engage in and learn a wide range of physical activities and mindfulness practices to promote healthy body and mind. By engaging in daily practices and exercise routines that include meditation, functional body awareness, and total body workouts, students gain skills and knowledge in physical fitness. Additionally, students take field trips for outdoor activities and fun and challenging cooperative activities to encourage a growth mindset. Activities include hikes, ice skating, and healthy food shopping. Students also learn about nutrition, the importance of sleep and emotional management, and how to take care of themselves in ways that support their overall wellbeing. Throughout the course, students write regular journal and blog entries, engage in research on health and wellness topics, and create collaborative presentations for peer education.
