Day 1: Friday, February 23, 2018 

  • Arrival in Athens and meet and transfer to hotel
  • Welcome meeting and dinner at hotel.

Day 2: Saturday, February 24, 2018

  • In the morning meet with guide, a local journalist and driver at hotel.  Depart for a guided visit to the famous Acropolis, followed by a visit to the Acropolis Museum. Then continue for a sightseeing tour, passing by the Parliament, Syntagma Square, the National Garden, the Temple of Zeus, the Olympic Stadium, the Presidential Residence, the Academy, the University, the Library and Omonia Square.
  • Continue with a stroll through traditional, authentic neighborhoods in the heart of Athens
    and visit some wonderful pastry shops serving all-time favorite Greek food.
    Have the chance to taste a “koulouri” the most famous street snack for ages, on the way. What’s more, the irresistible smell of freshly baked delicacies will lead our steps into one of the oldest traditional bakeries of the city and taste a cheese pie or spinach pie. We will be immersed in the colors and smells of local spices, the secret behind many of the most renowned dishes of Greek cuisine, as well as tasting an aromatic Greek coffee. Our Athens food tour will then continue through the bustling alleys of Varvakios, the picturesque fish, meat and vegetable market – the true “belly of Athens”. Finally, our Athens culinary walking tour will take you to the famous “Bairaktaris” typical grill house to taste authentic Greek souvlaki or gyros, along with Greek salad. Return back to hotel.
  • In the afternoon, meet with a journalist in the hotel to discuss issues about the refugee crisis and any other political and economic issues imposed by the group teachers.  Dinner at local restaurant.

Day 3: Sunday, February 25, 2018

  • Driver, guide and journalist at disposal until 14:00
  • Lunch at local restaurant.
  • Upon return, meeting room at hotel to discuss about today’s issues.  Dinner at hotel.

Day 4: Monday, February 26, 2018

  • Meet with driver and guide and depart for a full-day tour to Delphi, famous for its Oracle, to visit the imposing archaeological site and the very interesting museum.
  • After the visit, proceed to Rio-Antirio bridge to cross over to the Peloponnese, with a short stop at the picturesque and historical town of Nafpaktos (Lepanto), famous from the Battle of Lepanto, with its picturesque port and imposing
  • Lunch at local restaurant.
  • After lunch, proceed to Olympia.  Arrive in Olympia and check-in at hotel.  Meeting room to be provided to do some
  • Dinner at hotel and overnight.

Day 5: Tuesday, February 27, 2018

  • Morning visit of the Olympia archaeological, stadium and
  • After the visit, proceed to the fascinating mountain region of the
    Stop at the beautiful and historical town of Dimitsana, to visit the town and the unique Open Air Water Power Museum

    After the visit take the road towards Piraeus, with dinner at local restaurant on the way.
  • End at the Piraeus port to get on the overnight ferry to Heraklion, Crete.

Day 6: Wednesday, February 28, 2018

  • Early morning arrival in Heraklion, Crete.  Meet and transfer to
  • Short panoramic tour of the city, including visit to the Nikos
    Kazantzakis’ tomb. Breakfast at local restaurant.
  • After breakfast, meet with guide to visit the impressive Heraklion Museum.
  • Then proceed to Knossos, to visit the world-famous Knossos Palace.
  • Check-in at hotel.
    Lunch at local restaurant near the hotel.
  • Dinner at hotel.

Accommodations: Marin Dream Hotel, Heraklion 

Day 7: Thursday, March 1, 2018 

  • Walk to the Heraklion Marina (approx. 5 minute walk from the proposed hotel) to board 4 40 ft. sailing yachts for a private sailing educational course (weather permitting) up to the island of Dia (across from Heraklion town).  A wonderful open sea experience,
    anchoring and sailing.  This experience includes instructors, assistant instructors, finger food, refreshments and water on board.  Due to the group size, we will need 4 boats to operate this activity. At approx. 17:00 return back to the Heraklion Marina and walk to the hotel.
  • Dinner at local restaurant walking distance from hotel.

Day 8: Friday, March 2, 2018 

  • Meet guide and driver, in the morning and depart for “A day in the Village” in the Lassithi Plateau (approx.3 hour duration). Have a light lunch in the village.
  • Return to Heraklion and meet with a journalist at the hotel.
  • Dinner at hotel.

Day 9: Saturday, March 3, 2018  

  • Transfer to port or airport to get to Santorini (mode of transportation is pending, as not available at this stage).
  • Arrive in Meet and transfer to hotel.
  • Lunch at local restaurant nearby the hotel.  Rest of day at leisure.
  • Dinner at hotel.

Accommodations: Albatros Hotel, Santorini (B, L, D)

Day 10: Sunday, March 4, 2018   

  • Transfer to port for morning cruise (max. 5 hours) around the island, focusing on the caldera (volcano) and the hot springs with a guide on board to give them information about Santorini, the volcano, the rock formations and other unique geological aspects of this island. Free time to swim (if they wish) in the hotel springs.  Stop for barbeque.
  • Return back to the port and transfer to hotel.  Rest of day at leisure.
  • Dinner at hotel.

Day 11: Monday, March 5, 2018

  • Meet at hotel with a local TV-radio journalist and to accompany them on this full-day island tour and give them his/her input and journalist side of view of traditional life on Santorini.
  • Depart for a full day island tour, including visits to the impressive Akrotiri pre-historic site,
    meeting local fishermen, the SAWA – Santorini Animal Welfare Association http://sawasantorini.org, and the Prehistoric museum.
  • Drive along the caldera and pass by the towns of Oia (in the northernmost tip of the island) and the town of Pyrgos (famous for its wineries –however due to the fact that they are under age we have not included any such visits…).
  • Stop for lunch at local restaurant.
  • Return to hotel.
  • Dinner at the hotel

Day 12:  Tuesday, March 6, 2018

  • Breakfast
  • Transfer to airport for flight to Athens
  • Transfer to town.  Meet with journalist for final talk and farewell lunch.
  • Then transfer back to the airport for their outbound flight.
